Coroners Court Update
We continue to await a decision from the Coroner regarding Phoebe’s death.
I contacted the Coroners Court last week to enquire as to whether they could offer a time frame for the handing down of the finding. The registrar for Coroner Peter White advised that she was unable to provide me with any time frames, but assured me that it definitely would not be this year!
I asked her why the process took so long? She said it was due to a backlog of cases the Coroner had to deal with. She told me it will take approximately two months for the Coroner to prepare the finding because he has to go through all the evidence and the transcripts again! I find this extraordinary and very frustrating. The wheels of justice in Victoria grind at an agonizingly slow pace.
On the 2nd of December 2014, four years will have passed since Phoebe lost her life and in six weeks it will be a year since the conclusion of the Inquest hearing.
Thank you everyone for your continued interest and support.
Sincerely,
Natalie Handsjuk (Phoebe’s Mother)

This is a very disturbing case in so many ways, and as the old saying goes, justice delayed is justice denied.
